Design, fabrication and installation of a 12km rubber-lined steel slurry pipeline system for tailings disposal at a major platinum mining operation. Included pump station piping, valve assemblies and instrumentation.
The Challenge
Highly abrasive tailings material requiring specialised lining solutions and precise gradient management over variable terrain.
Our Solution
Wetpipe selected rubber-lined steel pipe for optimal wear resistance, with HDPE-lined sections at lower-velocity zones. Custom fabricated bends and reducers ensured smooth flow transitions.
The Outcome
Pipeline commissioned on schedule with zero leaks. System exceeded design life expectations with minimal maintenance.
